Science Tech Term 3, Weeks 6 & 7

In science this fortnight, we have been conducting more experiments across the school. We used eggs to test density involving plain water and salt water. We also placed eggs in vinegar to see them become soft, and to see how the shell dissolves and the membrane becomes firm and rubbery.

In the Grade 1/2 classroom last week we looked at mixable and unmixable liquids. We tested milk, oil, water and food dye. In the end, we put them all together and enjoyed looking at the way they all interacted in the cup.

Last week in the Grade 5/6 and F/1 classes, we got together to plan and design musical instruments. This session was a special way to connect with our buddies, and help them in using the design process. This week we will come together again to actually make and test the instruments. As part of this, we are developing our design and technology skills, as well as linking to music and the Book Week theme ‘Symphony of Stories’.
