5/6 News Term 4, week 1

Welcome back to Term 4!

We are already off to a flying start, with a lot of fantastic learning happening already.

We began our classroom learning by reflecting on our school values and expectations. Last week, we focused on being ready to learn and what this looks like, sounds like and feels like. We are slowly covering all the expectations on our matrix. This week, our focus is being honourable and following the rules of games on the playground.

We have started a new text study unit, this term focusing on history and World War One with the text ‘War Horse’ by Michael Morpurgo. We have been focusing on answering literal and inferential questions using evidence from the text, in full sentences. We used the acronym RAPP to ensure we had answered our questions in enough detail:

-          Restate the question

-          Answer in your own words

-          Prove it with evidence from the text

-          Proofread and edit to check that it makes sense.

In maths, we have been learning about the Cartesian plane and using coordinates to describe movement between all four quadrants. We have attached some coordinates for you to have a go at plotting at home. Let us know how you go!
