3/4 Class Term 3, Weeks 6 & 7
Grade 3/4 students have made great headway with learning about the statements on our School Values Matrix. Our focus ‘We use kind words and caring actions’ generated lots of discussion, and we challenged ourselves to find acts of kindness in our school and share them. It was really lovely hearing such positive and happy examples of kindness being shown in our classroom and our school.
In Literacy, students have participated in a range of activities that focussed on this year’s shortlisted books for Book Week. Students responded to ‘Dear Broccoli’ by Jo Dabrowski by thinking of their own least favourite fruit or vegetable and wrote letters to that food to persuade them not to be on their plates. Quite a funny expedition!
In Maths, students have continued learning about fractions and time this past fortnight. They have developed understandings around ordering and placing fractions on number lines and finding fractions of sets of items. When learning about time, students have explored language of ‘past’ and ‘to,’ consolidated understandings of matching digital with analogue time for o’clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to and have learned about telling time to the minute.
