1/2 Class Term 3, weeks 8 & 9
Students in Year 1/2 have been exploring a range of skills across English and Mathematics.
In Literacy, students have finished their study of Fantastic Mr. Fox. They compared characters and their actions, explored how the author builds suspense, and identified important messages in the story. Students also discussed why Mr. Fox was fantastic, using examples from the text to explain their ideas.
We have now begun studying Remembering Lionsville, exploring how people can use memories and stories to share their personal and cultural history.
In Mathematics, students have been learning about directions and positions. They have practised giving and following directions, using clockwise and anticlockwise, making different turns, and describing the order of objects. We are now beginning to explore multiplication and division, starting with skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s.
As part of our Schoolwide Positive Behaviour program, our focus has been “We are resilient.” Students created anchor charts and took part in role-playing activities to explore what resilience looks like and what we can say or think when things are challenging.
We are very proud of the way students have shared their ideas and shown a willingness to keep trying, learn from mistakes, and not give up.
