5/6 Class Term3, weeks 4 & 5

This fortnight in the Grade 5/6 classroom has been busy and full of learning.

We have been revising our ARCH values and setting personal goals, focusing on Respect and Aiming High. Some of these goals included ‘to be proud of myself’, ‘to be kind’ and ‘to go above and beyond without being asked’.

In other news, the Grade 5/6 students have helped to make some adjustments to our Trashless system. Through a student voice and drafting process, we have come up with a more sustainable and collaborative focus, instead of looking at students’ individual lunchboxes. We came up with the idea that we look at class bins, and how classes are using them appropriately. Our students will check each class bin for incorrect rubbish placement, and help sort rubbish into the correct bins. We now have separate bins for co-mingling recyclables, so that these don’t have to go to landfill – which is what was happening before, due to our new skip bins only accepting paper and cardboard.

Well done to our leaders and the Grade 5/6 class for their amazing and sustainable ideas, and for taking on new changes with enthusiasm.
