1/2 News Week 1

Students in Year 1/2 have been exploring a range of skills across English and Mathematics. In literacy, they have been learning about elements of visual literacy, including how colour, shape, size and distance can add meaning to a story beyond the written words.

In Mathematics, students have been developing their understanding of number lines by using halving strategies.  They are also applying mathematical reasoning by comparing numbers, using concepts such as greater than and less than, and recognising the number of tens in a number.

Students have also been learning to create compound sentences to make their writing more engaging. They are using conjunctions such as and (to add information), but (to show contrast), and so (to show cause and effect).
