Students in Year 1/2 have been exploring a range of skills across English and Mathematics.

In literacy, they have been developing their understanding of visual literacy, learning how illustrations can provide additional information and detail beyond the written text. Students have also used illustrations to help sequence events and identify the plot within a story.

In Mathematics, students have been building their understanding of number patterns. They have been identifying relationships and patterns when counting by 5s and 10s, as well as exploring repeating units and explaining and continuing patterns using blocks.

Students have also continued learning about compound sentences. They have been selecting appropriate conjunctions and completing sentences using and (to add information), but (to show contrast), so (to show cause and effect), and or (to give a choice).
