Week 5 and 6 Kitchen Garden
The last two weeks in the kitchen garden have been very busy with all students learning about the structure of plants. The 1/2 class have also been observing how bean seeds grow and making scientific drawings of their growth. The 3/4 class made rain gauges (unfortunately we have nothing to measure yet.) The 5/6 class investigated the structure of soil from different parts of the school examining texture and water holding capacity. This was an opportunity for them for them to become hands on with their learning!
We have continued monitoring our plants in both the greenhouse and the garden beds and have had some casualties. Wednesday afternoon the F/1 class planted out their bean plants. We are hoping they thrive in the garden.
In the kitchen this week we all made pancakes and this was a chance for the senior classes to use a frypan on the stove top and impress with their use of a flipper.
For the rest of the term we will be focussed on baking and continuing to monitor and add to our garden beds.
