Humanities Term 3 -Weeks 2 & 3
Humanities students across different year levels have been developing their understanding of geography and history.
F/1 (with Mrs Martin): Students have begun exploring the concept of belonging by brainstorming familiar places and reflecting on where they feel they belong. They made strong connections to their Semester One Humanities learning while enjoying the picture storybook We Belong by Laura Purdie Salas.
Students have also started their new Humanities booklets, sharing places that are special to them and explaining why these places help them feel a sense of belonging.
Years 1/2: Students have been learning to describe and record the weather, while exploring First Nations seasonal calendars. They used maps to investigate the different seasonal calendars across Australia and how they reflect local environments.
Years 3/4: Students continued their journey around Australia by exploring New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. They learnt about Sydney and Canberra, significant landmarks, and recognised Sydney as the home of the Gadigal Peoples of the Eora Nation.
Years 5/6: Students have been exploring how different groups have different social, cultural, environmental and political priorities. They have also investigated how and why places change over time to meet the needs of communities.
