Class F/1 Literacy and STEM Challenge
Recently our class completed a STEM activity linked to the Three Billy Goat's Gruff story that we have been reading in Literacy. Children were challenged to create an arched bridge for the Billy Goats to cross. We had some interesting bridges created.
We also linked literacy to Art, using print to create bridges for the angry troll to hide under.
During term 2, F/1 have been discovering and exploring narratives through fairy tales during literacy. The stories included The 3 little pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, goldilocks and the 3 bears, Jack and the beanstalk, Gingerbread man, the 3 billy goats gruff and a few others.
The class have had lots of fun with the many activities during term.
Earlier in the term F/1 had the opportunity to make gingerbread men, we cut the men from dough, decorated and ate them just like the fox in the story.
On Thursday the students created a map linking all the different stories together, the design included the different stories we had explored and enjoyed.
