5/6 Class News Term3 Week 1
Welcome to Term 3!
This week, we have focussed on getting back into our learning routines. We have started unpacking our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support matrix, beginning with our ARCH value of Respect, and specifically looking at the expectation: ‘We give each other space and time to learn’. Students had some great discussions around what this looks.
This week, we also celebrated NAIDOC Week. NAIDOC begins on the first Sunday of July, which fell during the school holidays this year.
To celebrate, we have been reading Indigenous literature, including dreamtime stories, as well as looking at embedding Indigenous perspectives into our Maths activities. On Wednesday afternoon, the 3-6 students had an afternoon together of playing Indigenous games. These games were Gorri, a throwing game; Kee’an, a hunting game where balls are placed in socks and aimed at hoops; and Kai, which is like ‘keepy uppy’.
