SCIENCE

Grade 3/4 have been learning about the scientific process this term. Their challenge was to create a rocket that would launch high into the air.

 Predictions:

The ratio of the same for vinegar and bicarb will work. It will have enough force to go one metre high – George

I predict there is going to be enough force for the lid to burst off and go 1 metre high – Eli

I predict that the same ratio of vinegar and bicarb soda will make the lid pop off and make the canister launch 50cm high – Hadley

 Reflections / Findings:

Our tests didn’t work properly due to the lid not being attached consistently. The highest test was 1cm high – Harley

Next time I would use a bit less baking soda – Anthony

I didn’t know that putting more water in the canister would stop it from going higher – Mila

We have discovered that we thought it would go very high, but it did not work – Aubree

My first attempt was not successful, but my second attempt was very successful. For my second attempt I added much more vinegar – Emmett

I discovered that 5 tsp of vinegar and 0.5 of bicarb works a lot – Tiana

It was interesting that the second one was 15cm and the third one only the lid popped off – Olivia
